Deep Tissue

Release tension and adhesions stored in muscle tissue. 90 minutes is best for whole body deep tissue treatment.

Relax and Restore your body with a 60 or 90 minute Swedish Massage.

Bend, Oregon is home to many athletes and outdoor enthusiasts. Everyone from the “weekend warrior” to the elite athlete can benefit from sports massage. Sports massage is a technique utilizing deep tissue massage used on the body’s neuromusculoskeletal system to treat chronic pain, injury and disability. Through manipulation and kneading of muscles as well as joint manipulation and mobilization, Earth Body Massage helps relieve the body of pain, treats injuries and helps athletes avoid injury.

The deep pressure used in sports massage benefits mind and body. It releases chronic muscle tension by treating the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (which is the layer protecting muscles, bones and joints). Usually, in the case of injury or tension, adhesions have formed in your body. Adhesions are bands of tight, painful and rigid tissue that can block blood circulation, limit your movement and cause pain and inflammation. Deep tissue massage breaks down adhesions to help your body function and feel better.

Sports massage can lower blood pressure in one massage session. It can reduce stress hormone (cortisol) levels and stimulate the release of oxytocin and serotonin—thus improving mood, relaxation and feeling of well-being.

Sports massage focuses on the realignment of deep muscle layers and connective tissues in your body. If you have a stiff or hurting neck or back, if your shoulders are tense and sore, if your legs feel tight and fatigued, we can help you.

If you’re in pain, feeling muscular tension or lack of flexibility; if you’re feeling down or just have a case of “the blahs,” then come in for a sports massage session right here in Bend, Oregon. You’ll likely leave feeling happier, more relaxed and ready to take on the world!

Cupping therapy has been used for thousands of years to release toxins, increase blood circulation and loosen the myofascia (a thin sheath of tissue the lies between your skin and your muscles, bones and tendons.

Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine that dates back to ancient Chinese, Egyptian and Near East cultures. The Egyptians were using cupping therapy nearly 4,000 years ago, according to the Ebers Papyrus, one of the world's oldest medical guides. In this technique, glass, bamboo or ceramic cups are traditionally used on the skin to create suction, causing the skin to rise and redden as blood vessels expand.

A review of 135 studies on cupping therapy published between 1992 and 2010 found that the technique is helpful to those seeking toxin and lactic acid release.

Cupping can leave behind colorful circular bruises, these however are not painful and will fade in a few days.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is also known as muscle scraping. A special tool, a spoon or a cap is used on the surface of the skin, using firm pressure and back-and-forth "scraping" movements. The skin is first lubricated with massage oil, and then a smooth edge is applied down the muscles and along acupuncture meridians.

Gua Sha comes to Bend, Oregon from traditional Chinese medicine and helps to stimulate blood flow and release toxins.
Treated areas may be red for a day or two, but then the skin returns to normal.

In a published study, Dr. Arya Nielsen, PhD reported a 400% increase in surface blood circulation just after gua sha treatment, along with decreases or complete resolution of pain and a sense of well being among test subjects. "Providers familiar with gua sha know that it can reduce a fever and alter the course of an acute infectious illness, as well as reduce inflammatory symptoms in chronic illness," according to Dr. Nielsen.

Hot Stone

There's nothing more relaxing and soothing than a hot stone massage. This technique uses smooth heated stones to heat up the skin and muscles, promoting circulation and giving your soul a nice warm up!

Once the muscles are warmed, they become more pliable and relaxed, making your massage a delightful treat.

Ultrasound therapy is a method of stimulating the tissue beneath the surface of the skin by using high frequency sound waves. The waves produce heat that goes straight to the muscles and increases blood flow instantly. Whereas the heat from a hot pack may take 20 minutes to reach the muscles, ultrasound heat reaches them instantaneously. Ultrasound is a great therapy for stubborn muscles that have a hard time releasing!

Ultrasound technology developed around the time of World War II; soon after, researchers began realizing it had useful applications for human health. Ultrasound therapy helps decrease painful swelling and edema, and speeds up the body's healing process by increasing blood flow in treated areas. It also gently massages muscles, tendons and ligaments, can soften and break up scar tissue, and is sometimes used to help deliver medications more quickly to affected areas.
